Originally developed in collaboration with Ricky Ponting in 2001, the Kahuna has been at the forefront of the Kookaburra range for nearly two decades. Its much-loved mix of a classic, slowly tapering profile and a meaty, undeniably powerful mid-blade sweetspot has made it one of the top-performing bats throughout its long reign. A minimal bow helps to give a smooth pickup and is good for scooping the ball over the infield, while very slight concaving further aids the feel of the bat.
The 2019 edition also comes with some emphatic new stickers – a bit more dark green this year to complement another new addition, the bright green snake grip that comes as standard.
You can’t really go wrong with the Kahuna. There’s a reason it’s been around for so long: it’s a great all-round bat that’s equipped for any style of cricket you wish to play, in any format of the game.
